Your Questions Answered
Is it sore?
Sore wouldn’t be the word I’d use. You may feel a pinch or a slight snap on the skin, this is to be expected for a successful treatment. The snap is the sensation we feel when the melanin in the hair is absorbing the light from the laser in order to heat up the hair shaft to cause the reaction essential to eliminate hair growth, so to us it is important you feel a light pinch. You’ll be able to experience this at patch test and if it helps we have never had to abandon a treatment because a client has found it unbearable and were doing this a long time!
Waxing and shaving burn is way worse!
When will I see a difference?
After your first appointment, we expect to see some element of reduction. Laser hair removal will only work on hairs in the telegan (active) phase of growth and this is why more than one session is required.
There are three phases to the hair growth cycle and there is no way to predict which hair is in
which phase, hence why you may see more of a reduction in one treatment than the next, but we expect reduction between each treatment.
How many sessions are required?
We suggest anywhere between 8-12 sessions depending on the individual. Some are more than happy with their reduction at 8 sessions and we expect most clients to be 60%-80% reduced by session 8, its often more than this but again many factors come into play around this figure, conditions like PCOS (Poly Cysytic Ovary system) and those that leave large gaps between their sessions.
How many weeks do I need to wait between each session?
Body appointments: 6 weeks
Face appointments: 4 weeks
How should I arrive to my consultation and first full appointment after my patch test?
This is the only appointment that we require hair growth to assess hair colour and density ensuring that you are a suitable candidate for the treatment. All areas to be assessed must be strictly free of all false tan so a patch test can be carried out.
How can I manage my hair growth between each appointment?
The beauty of laser is that you can shave as often as you would like between each appointment. The only thing to be mindful of is to make sure the hair is NEVER removed by the root or bleached. We need that pigment and we need that root in the follicle for a successful treatment!Â
